A Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon at Ocala Heart Institute in Leesburg, Dr. Cook graduated with honors from Texas Lutheran College in 1979m, and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1983. Entering the U.S. Army, he completed his General Surgery residency in 1989 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Cook served until 1992 as a general surgeon in Landstuhl, Germany, and was deployed in Saudi Arabia with the 31st Combat Support Hospital during Operation Desert Storm. He completed his Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC in 1994. Dr. Cook is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
